LSS Community Response (formerly Outreach Ministries / SEOM)

Community Response is a program of Lutheran Social Services of Central Ohio. The program serves families in Southeast Ohio and other areas disproportionately impacted by natural disasters and generational poverty. Gethsemane volunteers deliver donated goods to a distribution center in Southeast Ohio and staff work crews to assist those in need.

Donated goods are taken to the LSS center in Caldwell, Ohio. Gethsemane volunteers load and deliver trailers full of donated goods on a monthly basis. Everyone is welcome to help collect and load the trailer. A pickup truck with a hitch is required for delivery to Caldwell. Work projects (usually painting, cleaning, small home repair projects, building/fixing fences, etc) may be anywhere in Southeast Ohio, and sometimes in other parts of the state struck by disasters. The work projects are occasional, and are often in response to a particular event (like storms or floods). To help with Community Response work days or donations of goods, watch for announcements in Gethsemane’s bulletin or newsleter or contact the Church Office.
