Lucas Weiss
Lucas Weiss has served as Director of Music Ministries and Organist at Gethsemane since April 2008. In addition to leading the Sunday Assembly in song, Lucas works with the Bell Choir, Instrumentalists, and Vocalists of the congregation. Each week he shares in a musical discovery time with the Sunday School children and the students of Play and Learn Christian Child Care. An educator at heart, Lucas also serves as a teacher of the Adult Forum Sunday School class periodically throughout the year.
Beyond Gethsemane's walls, Lucas is a founding member of the ALCM Columbus: Cantor Connection, a group of local Lutheran musicians providing events and resources to the churches and musicians of Central Ohio. Lucas also is also pursuing a Master's Degree in Church Music from Trinity Lutheran Seminary. He serves as guest lecturer and Commencement/Convocation Organist for Mount Vernon Nazarene University. Honored in 1996 as the youngest graduate of the Methodist Theological School's Organist Training Program, Lucas holds a Certificate in Organ Playing as Parish Ministry.
Lucas and his wife Amanda were married in July 2006 and along with their Bassett Hound Clover, and Cat Calvin, have recently begun renovation of a 1910 home in Mount Vernon, Ohio.
