Meet Rev. Mark Nodo, the new interim pastor of Gethsemane Lutheran Church. He will begin serving Gethsemane on March 1 on a full-time basis, and continue until a permanent pastor can be found. The synod informs us that this process generally takes a year or more.
Pastor Mark is a native of NE Ohio, growing up in Massillon, Ohio. He is the oldest of six siblings. The majority of his family is Roman Catholic. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Kathy Nodo. They have two adult daughters and sons-in-laws and six grandchildren.
Pastor Nodo was ordained in 1992 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Canton, Ohio.
His educational background includes a Master Divinity, Trinity Lutheran Seminary, and a Master Education (Community Counseling) and a BA Psychology at Kent State University.
He has training in Healthy Congregation, Bridge Builders under Dr. Pete Steinke and Family Systems under Dr. Larry Foster, plus some additional training related to telehealth, anxiety management and spiritual coaching.
He has served as intern pastor at Zion Lutheran Church in Loudonville, Ohio; associate pastor at Epiphany Lutheran Church in Pickerington, Ohio; lead pastor at Faith Lutheran Church in Whitehall; and part-time pastor at St. Paul Lutheran in St. Louisville, Ohio.
Some interests include attending grandchildren’s sporting events, cooking, gardening vegetables and flowers, canning peppers and sweet pickles, and books and YouTube videos on spirituality.
He is a co-owner of Java Brava LLC, a Columbus based coffee food truck.
